English for Business

 

English for Business exams are exams in English which aim to check the skills of using English in business environment.

 

English for Business certificate is the basis to pass lectureships at many Polish universities and getting  very good or excellent marks enables participation in international students’ exchange programs and getting dream job in Poland and abroad as well. EFB is the most often chosen exam by people passing LCCI. It is the result of innovative, professional approach to language exams. It is based on authentic materials and business situations.

 

The British organization dealing with applications’ acceptance for over 40 000 faculties in Grat Britain, The Universities and Colleges Admissions Service (UCAS) accepts English for Business (EFB) – pass from Level 3.

 

The candidates interested in obtaining EFB certificate at the particular level, can pass the exam in one of three world-wide examination series or take advantage of the “ON Demand” procedure at any time chosen by the candidate in one of the dozens of accredited LCCI International Qualifications Examination Centers.

 

Requirements: the ability of precise text’s understanding and communication in English in written form. The form, tone and content of the statement must be appropriate for the situation or scenario.

 

In order to gain an additional confirmation of skills, the candidate can take an oral (Speaking) or listening part of the exam.

 

Besides the mark on the certificate there is also the percentage result and the result presenting the level of English according CEFR.

 

 All English varieties (British, North-American, Australian) are accepted at the English for Business exams as long as the candidate is consequent in using one, chosen variety.

 

During the exam the candidate can use a mono- or bilingual dictionary.


Each of levels, from Preliminary to Level 4 consists of obligatory written part (Reading and Writing) and optional parts: Speaking and Listening.

EFB Preliminary

English for Business exam at Preliminary level is addressed to candidates who have contact with business topic in English for the first time. If the candidates successfully pass the exam at this level they will:

  • understand basic data, facts and commands;
  • write simple texts and atatements according to given schemes;
  • formulate written data in legible and understandable way;
  • take required activities based on the information included in materials;understand simple, spoken, business language;
  • take part in a short conversation.
